WhatsApp is reportedly working on adding another layer of security for its users in the near future, with the potential feature allowing them to conceal their IP address when making phone calls through the messaging app owned by Meta.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has previously provided security features such as the ability for users to mute calls from unknown numbers, effectively enhancing their privacy and preventing disruptions when receiving calls from unfamiliar numbers.
The IP address concealment feature is intended to prevent others from detecting the location of users making phone calls via WhatsApp. However, as explained, hiding the IP address may result in a decrease in audio quality during WhatsApp calls.
Currently, this feature is only available to WhatsApp Beta users, but if it proves effective, it may soon become available to all users.
